Robi Axiata, a leading telecom operator, launches Bangladesh’s first private Tier-IV data centre to meet the growing demand for data storage amidst digitalization. This $13 million investment, located at the Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park in Jashore, signifies Robi’s strategic expansion into digital services. Termed Cypher, this marks the third data centre under Axiata Group’s portfolio in Asia. Certified by the Uptime Institute, Cypher boasts robust infrastructure ensuring fault tolerance and redundancy, backed by a “2N+1” power control system and AI-based modular cooling for uninterrupted operations. The choice of Jashore offers cost-effective facilities with minimal risk from natural disasters. With an unparalleled uptime guarantee of 99.995 percent, coupled with stringent security measures, Robi aims to attract institutions seeking data safety. Inaugurated by State Minister for Telecom and ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, this initiative sets a benchmark for the industry, attracting both domestic and foreign investments exceeding Tk 5,200 crore, signaling a burgeoning interest in Bangladesh’s data centre sector.
