Toyota Tsusho Corporation plans to invest an additional Tk 141 crore in its Bangladesh subsidiary. The Japanese company aims to expand and strengthen its automotive business in the country.
The investment equals 1,815 million yen. Toyota Tsusho will inject the funds into Toyota Bangladesh Ltd, raising the subsidiary’s capital to Tk 604 crore.
Toyota Tsusho announced the investment in a stock exchange disclosure on 30 October. Following the investment, Toyota Bangladesh will become a specified subsidiary of the Japanese company.
Toyota Tsusho Asia Pacific Pte Ltd currently owns 99 percent of Toyota Bangladesh. Toyota Tsusho directly holds the remaining 1 percent.
The company established Toyota Bangladesh in August 2025 to expand its mobility business in the country. Its operations include importing, wholesaling and retailing Toyota vehicles and spare parts. The company also provides after-sales services.
The latest investment comes as Toyota expands its presence in Bangladesh. Toyota Tsusho has also outlined plans to develop a hybrid electric vehicle manufacturing facility in the country.
The company plans to begin work on the facility in 2027. It aims to start full-scale production by 2029 under its “With Bangladesh, for Bangladesh” development vision.
Earlier in October, Toyota Tsusho Vice Chairman Ichiro Kashitani led a delegation that met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka. The delegation discussed the company’s plans to establish vehicle manufacturing operations in Bangladesh.
Toyota Bangladesh has also selected local partners to strengthen its after-sales network. Continental Works Limited in Dhaka and Carboy Private Limited in Chattogram will provide genuine spare parts, engine oil and servicing facilities.
These services will support both new and existing Toyota owners. Customers will be able to access genuine parts and maintenance services through the selected partners.
Toyota Bangladesh reported Tk 7.5 crore in net sales for the fiscal year ending March 2026. The company recorded a Tk 1.4 crore loss attributable to owners of the parent during the same period.
Its total assets stood at around Tk 90 crore, while consolidated equity reached Tk 65 crore.
Toyota Tsusho said the additional investment will have little impact on its overall financial performance for the fiscal year ending March 2027.
The company sees strong growth potential in Bangladesh’s automotive market. The additional investment could strengthen Toyota’s local operations as demand for vehicles and related services grows.
