Toyota to Invest US$40 Mn in Bangladesh 3S Centres

Toyota Motor Corporation plans to invest nearly $40 million in Bangladesh. The company will establish two 3S centres for vehicle sales, servicing and spare parts. Construction will begin in November 2026.

Toyota will establish the centres in Dhaka and Chattogram. The investment, worth around Tk500 crore, will mark the company’s first direct operational presence in Bangladesh.

The 3S centres will offer vehicle sales, servicing and spare parts under one roof. Toyota has already identified sites for both facilities, according to the Invest Bangladesh Authority.

Until now, Toyota has operated in Bangladesh through local dealers and distributors. The new centres will give the Japanese automotive manufacturer a direct presence in the country. They will also expand Toyota’s customer service capabilities.

The Invest Bangladesh Authority confirmed the investment in October. The agency had engaged with Toyota for several months to bring the investment to Bangladesh.

Separately, Toyota Tsusho Corporation plans to develop a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) manufacturing industry in Bangladesh. The company aims to begin work in 2027 and start full-scale production by 2029.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman discussed the plan with a high-level Toyota Tsusho delegation on 6 October. Toyota Tsusho Vice Chairman Ichiro Kashitani led the delegation.

Toyota Tsusho plans to pursue the initiative under its “with Bangladesh, for Bangladesh” development philosophy. The Invest Bangladesh Authority will provide policy support as the company moves toward local manufacturing.

The investments could strengthen Bangladesh’s automotive ecosystem and attract greater international participation. They could also improve after-sales services and support the growth of local vehicle manufacturing.
