Nokia has reinitiated its phone manufacturing operations in Bangladesh, marking a strategic collaboration with Salextra to reintroduce the brand into the local market. Salextra has established a state-of-the-art mobile manufacturing facility in Tongi, Gazipur, spanning an impressive area of 53,715 square feet. The factory has swiftly commenced the production of Nokia phones, a move that has already generated employment opportunities for 400 workers, with a notable emphasis on gender diversity, as 40% of the workforce comprises women.
Noteworthy dignitaries from regulatory bodies such as the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the National Board of Revenue (NBR), and representatives from financial institutions like UCB Bank have visited the factory to witness its operations firsthand. Ashraf Bin Taj, Chairman of the Board of Salextra Limited, has underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the quality of every Nokia phone manufactured within its premises. Furthermore, he has expressed Salextra’s eagerness to make substantial contributions to the burgeoning mobile industry of Bangladesh, thereby fostering technological advancement and economic growth in the region.
