Sheltech Group, one of Bangladesh’s leading real estate and textile conglomerates, is expanding beyond its traditional businesses to capture new opportunities in domestic and international markets.
The group’s latest venture is Spain Bangladesh Agro Industry Ltd., a BDT 4 billion (Tk 400 crore) agro-processing facility in Parbatipur, Dinajpur. The company started commercial production in May 2026.
The plant processes corn, pineapples, mangoes, tangerines, jackfruit, potatoes, and other locally sourced crops into canned, ready-to-eat products. It primarily serves export markets.
Managing Director Tanvir Ahmed said the company has already begun exporting its products. The European Union is among its key target markets. He added that the shipments mark Bangladesh’s entry into the processed canned fruit and vegetable export segment.
The facility will bring around 40,000 farmers under contract farming arrangements. It will also create approximately 1,500 direct jobs in the region.
Spain Bangladesh Agro Industry Ltd. reflects Sheltech’s broader strategy to diversify its portfolio. The group holds a 50% stake in the venture.
Sheltech is also strengthening its real estate business.
The company has committed BDT 5.75 billion (Tk 575 crore) to develop a 17-storey green shopping complex in Banasree, Dhaka. The project will offer nearly 200,000 square feet of commercial space. Construction is expected to begin this month, while completion is targeted for January 2030.
The group is also developing 21 residential projects in Jolshiri Abashon through joint ventures. These projects represent a combined investment of BDT 2.65 billion (Tk 265 crore).
Sheltech continues to expand its presence in the textile sector through its affiliated companies.
Envoy Textiles Ltd., where Sheltech owners and associated entities are major shareholders, is investing BDT 1.79 billion (Tk 179 crore). The investment will increase blended yarn spinning capacity by 25 tonnes per day. The expansion is scheduled for completion in February 2027.
The group also plans to install 10 MW of solar power generation capacity across its operations. This investment will lower carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.
Founded in 1988, Sheltech Group employs around 16,000 people and generates annual revenue of nearly BDT 67 billion (Tk 6,700 crore).
The company expects its annual turnover to reach approximately BDT 92 billion (Tk 9,200 crore) by 2030. Agro-processing exports, new real estate projects, the Banasree retail complex, and expanded textile production will drive this growth.
