Bangladesh is making significant strides in sustainable garment manufacturing, with 229 eco-friendly factories now operating across the country, according to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). Among these, 91 factories have achieved the prestigious LEED Platinum certification from the US Green Building Council, demonstrating their commitment to the highest standards of sustainability. Additionally, 124 factories have earned the Gold certification, further showcasing Bangladesh’s progress in green manufacturing. The country also boasts 10 Silver-certified factories and four with general certifications, reflecting a broad and comprehensive effort to prioritize environmental responsibility.
BGMEA data highlights that Bangladesh is a leader in green manufacturing on a global scale. Remarkably, nine of the world’s top 10 eco-friendly factories are located within the country, showcasing Bangladesh’s commitment to integrating sustainable practices within its garment industry. Furthermore, 56 of the top 100 globally recognized environmentally friendly factories are situated in Bangladesh, positioning the nation as a key player in the movement towards more sustainable and responsible textile production. This achievement underscores the country’s focus on enhancing its global reputation while contributing positively to environmental conservation efforts.
