BanglaBiz’ Investor Gateway Launched by BIDA and JICA

BanglaBiz’ Investor Gateway Launched by BIDA and JICA

The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has launched BanglaBiz, a unified digital platform designed to simplify and accelerate investor services in Bangladesh.

For the first time, the One Stop Service (OSS) portals of all five major Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) — BIDA, Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA), and Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) — are integrated under a single digital interface. The Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) portal is also accessible through the BanglaBiz homepage.

Approved by the BIDA Governing Body in April 2025, the platform was developed with financial and technical support from JICA, reflecting Bangladesh’s commitment to improving ease of doing business and digital governance.

Key Features of the Initial Release

  • Central landing page offering information on investment services, direct links to IPA OSS portals, FAQs, and contact details.
  • “How to Apply” tool — an interactive guide helping investors identify the most relevant IPA based on their business type, sector, and preferences.
  • Management dashboard enabling government officials to monitor service performance, investment flows, and operational efficiency across agencies.

Stakeholder Remarks

“Digital transformation is not just a technological shift — it is a strategic imperative for inclusive development,” said Tomohide Ichiguchi, Chief Representative of the JICA Bangladesh Office. “BanglaBiz exemplifies our commitment to co-creating solutions that empower investors and strengthen institutional capacity.”

BIDA Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury noted that the platform addresses a long-standing need among investors for a single, integrated access point. “We built BanglaBiz from the perspective of the service seeker — a unified entry for anyone looking to start and operate in Bangladesh,” he said.

Future Development and Integration

While the current version of BanglaBiz consolidates foundational investor services, future phases aim to evolve it into a fully integrated Investor Single Window Platform (ISWP). Planned upgrades include:

  • Launch of a Business Starter Package involving multiple ministries.
  • Introduction of BanglaBiz ID (BBID) for unique investor identification.
  • Digitalisation of work permit and security clearance processes to enable cross-agency interoperability.

Towards a Smarter Investment Ecosystem

BanglaBiz builds on JICA’s long-standing partnership with Bangladesh to enhance private sector competitiveness, attract quality investment, and modernise public service delivery.

By consolidating investor-facing systems, the platform represents a strategic step toward a smarter, more transparent, and investor-friendly business environment — a milestone in Bangladesh’s journey toward becoming a regional investment hub.
